Mobile learning in the classroom
As the
world improving in term of using and integrating technologies into
education process, the m-learning was appear around the world. At the
beginning, it was only a dream that educators want to be achieved, but
today it became one of the tools that facilitate learning process. The
educators and researchers define m-learning (mobile-learning) as any
activity that allows individuals to be more productive when consuming, interacting with,
or creating information, mediated through a compact digital portable device that
the individual carries on a regular basis, has reliable connectivity, and fits
in a pocket or purse. Other definition is the use of mobile
technology to aid in the learning, reference or exploration of information
useful to an individual at that moment or in a specific use context.
As it show in the previous two definitions the advantages
of m-learning are:

Easy to
access.
·
Enhance
students' knowledge.
· It is
more related to students live as it is used by their smart technologies
devices.
·
Its
contents are very simple which lead students to accept the contents.
· The
students can share their experiences and their learning outcomes by using
different social tools that support it by the devices such as twitter, Facebook
and WhatsApp.

In my
opinion, the m-learning will be one of the most popular education platforms
around the world in the future. Also, its effects to the educators
are appearing. In this course, we apply some of the m-learning features by
doing discussion using WhatsApp tools that is already installed in our
smart phones. The discussion was about how to protect children from
Cyberbullying.
Actually,
this is the first time that our instructors integrate the mobile into
learning process, and this experience was special because it was very
interesting and the we were support our opinions in that discussion by
send images and formative videos to make our opinions strong. Also, we
can did search by using our phones when we want to answers the questions that
is posted by our instructor or others students in my group.
In
addition in the course that we learn about the m-learning our instructor asks
question about "did you with applying m-learning in Oman?"
there students were with applying the m-learning in our schools and they
support their opinions by give examples, on other hand there were some
students who still against this idea. In fact, this question encourages me
to think deeply in this issue as we in the 21st century. Acutely, I'm with applying
m-learning in our schools. If we think about students who studying in schools,
there a lot of them has own mobile devices, and they are take it to school
without administration and teachers know! So, the ministry of education
should rethink about this issue and try to put roles for using m-learning at
schools.
In my
feature, I will use m-learning in classroom to access information easily, doing
discussion among students using different tools that are available, sharing
information with other who are outside the class, and control the classroom. In
addition, I can ask my students, for example, to product videos about any subjects.
So, the students will need to take photos by the mobile camera and record their
voice to enter it to video. There a lot of application those are free and available
in the market that which will help me to use m-learning at classroom. For example,
e-reader application, dictionary for technology, educational games and photo
and video producers. Finally, m-learning will meet the ability of students who has
learning difficulties.
