Digital storytelling
Methods of teaching are
increasing fast. One of the methods and strategies that recently appear is
teaching by using digital storytelling. Digital Storytelling provides new ways
to combine various technology mediums such as graphics, audio, video, animation
and web site publishing to create powerful stories for all to see and hear.
Digital Storytelling is very
powerful tool for many students because it addressing various types of learning
styles. It is provides meaning to learning through the use of their auditory,
visual and kinesthetic skills. Students are also required to use higher order
thinking skills in their creativity of their stories. In addition, the digital
storytelling increases the students' imagination which leads to consider new
and attractive ideas, contribute personal motivation and
self-confidence. Moreover, it enhances student's skills in technically and
pedagogical. In technical aspect, students learn about multimedia and programs
for creation stories. On other hand, pedagogy aspect includes researching and
presenting.
There are many different ways of
digital storytelling. For example:

Telling of personal tales.
·
The recounting of historical
events.
·
Instruct on a particular topic.
Last year I learn PhotoStory program that is for
creating stories. It is free and easy to install on computer. I produce video
by using this program.
The bellow video is example of storytelling "my
own production".
In this course I learn about
websites that are easy to use to create stories. Animoto website is one the
sites that product simple and nice videos. It is very easy to use, provide
ready styles of videos, and easy to publish the videos. However, I did not
create video by this website because I found other website that provides more
chance to create nice video. This website is PowToon (URL= http://www.powtoon.com/). I produce short
video about the assessment in the past and now. Also, our instructor shows us
videos contain different types of digital story telling.
In my future teaching
practice, I will use digital storytelling because it is really motivate the
students and facilitate the learning. Also, there are a lot of ways to create
stories, not only one way. Also, I can help teachers to learn how to product
good video and stories in term of design.
Such this assignment the students
will improve their skills such as:

Creativity and generating new ideas.
·
Using software to create
the story.
· Increase social relationship, as they
will share the story.
